Mr. Rajesh Bhaiyya Tope has won five times in a row since 1999. Tope, who studied engineering, entered politics at the age of 23 as the president of the District Youth Congress. He also contested the Lok Sabha elections in 1996. But he had to lose in this first election. In 1999, Sharad Pawar quit the Congress and formed the Nationalist Congress Party. At that time, Rajesh Tope contested the Legislative Assembly elections from the Nationalist Congress Party. He became an MLA after winning the election from Ambad Assembly Constituency and was also sworn in as the Minister of State. In March 2001, he was again appointed as the Minister of State and continued to hold the post for 14 consecutive years.
 

In 2004, he was again elected from Ambad constituency. He served as Minister of State for Urban Development, Water Conservation, Parliamentary Affairs, General Administration.

In 2009, Rajesh Tope contested the election from Ghansawangi. Because Ambad Assembly Constituency was merged with Badnapur and Ghansawangi Constituency was formed. At that time he was holding the charge of Minister of Higher and Technical Education.

Rajesh Tope's father Ankushrao Tope had established a network of cooperative societies in Jalna district. During his lifetime, Rajesh Tope became the head of several institutions established by his father. Rajesh Tope took charge of the institutional works like cooperative sugar factory, educational institute, cooperative yarn mill, engineering college in Ankushnagar. Through these organisations, Rajesh Tope has maintained good public relations in the district and his constituency Ghansawangi. He and his family have a good public image.
